Local SEO for UAE Businesses: How to Get Found on Google in Dubai, Sharjah & Abu Dhabi

A clear local SEO playbook for businesses in the UAE — Google Business Profile, Arabic and English search, reviews and the on-page basics that win the map pack.

The Dubai skyline at dusk

The UAE is one of the most competitive, mobile-first markets in the world. Customers in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi research everything on their phones — and they decide fast. Local SEO is how a business makes sure it is the one they find and trust. Here is the playbook we use.

Start with your Google Business Profile

In the UAE, the map pack — those top three local listings with a map — captures a huge share of clicks for “near me” and city-based searches. A fully optimised Google Business Profile is non-negotiable:

  • Choose the most specific primary category, then add secondary ones.
  • List services and products with descriptions.
  • Add high-quality photos and keep them fresh.
  • Set accurate hours, including Ramadan and public-holiday changes.

Reviews are currency

UAE customers read reviews carefully and expect a healthy, recent volume. Build a simple, consistent habit of asking happy customers to review you, and reply to every review — positive or negative. A thoughtful response to criticism often impresses future customers more than a wall of five-star ratings.

Think in two languages

Many UAE searches happen in English, but Arabic search is significant and often less competitive. Where it fits your audience, consider:

  • Key landing pages or at least metadata in both languages.
  • Natural use of how locals actually phrase searches.
  • Correct, consistent transliteration of your business name.

You do not need to do everything bilingually on day one — but ignoring Arabic entirely leaves traffic on the table.

Get the on-page basics right

  • A dedicated page for each service and, where relevant, each emirate you serve.
  • City and neighbourhood names used naturally, not stuffed.
  • Fast, mobile-first pages — Gulf users have high expectations for speed.
  • Clear calls to action: call, WhatsApp, directions, enquire.

Consistency across the web

Your name, address and phone number must match exactly everywhere — your website, Google, directories and social profiles. Inconsistent details confuse search engines and erode the trust signals that decide local rankings.

Measure what matters

Connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics, and watch your Business Profile insights. Track calls, direction requests and enquiries — not just rankings. The goal is customers, not vanity positions.
